BOAT INFORMATION
ALETA is a beautiful 1995 Fountaine Pajot Athena 38, located in Río Dulce Guatemala. She has been here in fresh water since 2019, with one recent shakedown cruise to Belize and back. This Athena 38, built by Fountaine Pajot in 1995, is a sure and comfortable catamaran.
ALETA is well equipped and maintained. She has been recently prepared for blue water cruising and is ready to go now.
The Athena 38 is designed with a modern, yet curvaceous styling that is extremely pleasing to the eye. Due to her relatively light weight (vacuum bag construction to create a light but strong hull) she performs better in the lighter airs than most of her production counterparts. The installation of her systems and hardware has been done in such a way as to make the access and service extremely easy. Her interior has been built from low maintenance materials and modular units to allow the maximum amount of time to be spent enjoying sailing her.
The Athena 38 successfully combines beauty with intelligence. Beauty in its shape: the hulls, the sunshade, and the aft skirt; and intelligence in its design, which makes handling, berthing, mooring, and storage so easy. She has a functional helmsman’s cockpit for navigation, a spacious cockpit for sunbathing, and very convenient steps at the rear of the hulls, providing the best possible access for all kinds of recreation on the water.
The high-tech materials, the build quality and the choice of high-quality fittings make the Athena 38 an especially safe and pleasant boat for all weathers. The high level of Fountaine Pajot standards can be seen belowdecks. There is a large saloon with a well-equipped chart table, and the galley has very large storage and refrigerator space. The private areas in the well-insulated hulls feature four light and airy cabins, optimum use of space for king-size beds, and independent toilets in the corridors with built-in showers.
The hulls are identical, with 2 double cabins, in the forepeak a single berth and a bathroom. The galley has a large refrigerator, a well-equipped galley and a table for 6 people with a separate chart table. In the cockpit, a table for 8 people is sheltered by a removable bimini. The furling genoa, a fully battened mainsail with lazy jacks and a dinghy on davits.
Purchased last year by the current owner, his plans have changed and ALETA is ready to go. Since then, many upgrades have been done including:

The low-profile cabin top gives visibility to the helmsman with the steering station forward in the cockpit. The cabin top allows very easy access to the mainsail for stowage and reefing. Due to the cabin top overhanging the salon windows, the salon is always in shade, preventing the “greenhouse affect” so common on other catamarans.
